Our Mission Statement
Welcome to our inclusive online space. We are United in Awareness, and we are determined to fight inequality, prejudice and injustice across Britain by encouraging inter-community dialogue.
All around the country, the last few years have been marked by a visible increase in hateful ideologies and the ostracisation of minority communities. When we cast an eye into history, we are time and time again confronted with the reality of what such hate can surmount to. If we refuse to learn from this, we are doomed to repeat it. This is why we aim to take a stand against all forms of hate, creating a united movement to establish a framework for a more accepting Britain, a more aware world, and a more inclusive society.
In a world where so many people’s voices are shut down and drowned out, we will be encouraging people to come forward with their personal stories of facing discrimination, providing a space in which people can find others with similar experiences and find advice and organisations that can help them. We also hope to encourage people to read and respectfully interact with the stories of people from a variety of backgrounds whom they may not usually encounter in their daily lives, and gain a new understanding of their experiences. Through understanding the experiences of others, we can all gain more unity in awareness and work towards a more unbiased society.
This is why we will also be posting weekly suggestions for small acts of kindness, as well as spotlighting both local and national charities each month, exploring the work that they do and the impact that they have on their communities. Their work and these small acts of kindness can serve to remind us that something as simple as donating old clothes, our loose change, or even donating our time can make a difference.
Our message is clear: no one should be discriminated against because of the colour of their skin, the faith that they follow, their gender identity, their sexual orientation, their disability, or anything else that makes them unique. As human beings, we all deserve equal treatment, equal opportunities, and equal access to fundamental human rights. We should not be forced to apologise for our differences, but should instead be encouraged to celebrate them and the multicultural face of modern Britain that they create. In a world where politicians and hate groups try to divide us based on our differences and who is deemed “more” or “less” accepted, the only way that we can fully unify to make change is to become more aware or the experiences of others.
We know that this is not an easy task, and by no means are we claiming to be uniquely qualified to run such a project, so we will be reaching out to many people along the way. But if you also recognise the importance of unity in the face of unprecedented adversity, then why not give us a follow and join us on this journey to make a difference.
